Connecting the Community to Taman Warisan Negeri Selangor Taman Rimba Ampang – 19 November 2011

Taman Warisan Negeri Selangor over 108,000 hectares in size, helps guarantee the quality of life enjoyed by residents of Selangor. However, very few residents of Selangor are aware of the critical role the Park plays in their lives and the tremendous pressure placed on the Park as a result of their modern lifestyles.

Recognising a need to reach out to the community in Selangor and raise awareness on the Park and its critical importance in their lives, TrEES is focusing on building a bond between the community and the Park. Under the programme communities become active participants in the conservation of Taman Warisan Negeri Selangor by taking simple steps to start changing their individual daily habits and reducing their ecological footprint on the Park. The programme would also highlight to the community the active role the state government has taken to conserve Selangor’s forest and water resources.

To kick off the programme, TrEES in partnership with the Forestry Department of Selangor and Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (LUAS) organised a day “Celebrating Taman Warisan Negeri Selangor” at Taman Rimba Ampang on 19 November 2011 with the support of the Selangor State Government.
