It is a well-founded principle that development, in terms of social advancement and standards of living, imports a sustainability component. The price that non-sustainable development exact on the environment may not be a viable option when viewed on the context of public health and inter-generational responsibility.

Issues of adverting dangers of an environmental fallout from radioactive waste disposal place a high premium on the safety focus. But how safe is safe? Or do we need to become a dumping site for radioactive waste in the name of development? Or are there issues of environmental rights and legal principles of prior and informed consent of those affected, to contend with? Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (”LAMP”) presents a context in the public domain to grapple and engage on these issues.

We invite you to join the speakers in an evening discourse on this aspect of environmental issue that has of late been an area of concern to Malaysians at large.
