More families taking part in run

THE Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) Run is back and has attracted more families to participate in its 10km run.

Sports Intelligence operations director Kisha Singam said the 10km run has been a favourite among regular joggers, families and those wanting to compete in a comfortable run to gauge their performances.

“Over the months, we have found that many families have signed up for the run. It is heart-warming to see families bonding through walks or runs on weekends. Parents can enjoy a good time with their children especially for those who are busy with work during weekdays,” said Kisha.

Sports Intelligence is the event coordinator for the MPSJ 10km Run on Dec 4. The run will be flagged off at the MPSJ Sports Complex at 7am.

Close to 4,000 people are expected to participate in the run.

Run organisers hoped to raise RM30,000 for the Selangor Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS).

MRCS chairman Fatimah Sulaiman said she was glad that families are participating in the MPSJ Run.

“I am overwhelmed that families are coming forward to support the run which will help raise funds for our ambulance service and basic medication,” she said.

MRCS director M. Somasuntharam said the run would also be an opportunity for the public to see how the society works and at the same time encourage youngters to join.

The run is organised by Sports Intelligence and MPSJ, and presented by Herbalife. The Star is the official media partner.

On Wednesday, Breathe Apparel Marketing Sdn Bhd a performance compression wear provider, sponsored an estimated RM40,000 worth of discount vouchers. Each particpant will receive a RM10 discount coupon to purchase sportswear.

Its director Inderjit Singh said the compression wear is good for optimum training as it is able to hold the muscles thus reducing vibration during workouts and minimises pain.

“It helps sweat to evaporate quicker due to the combination of lycra, polyester and nylon used in its products,” he said.

The run will feature nine categories — men’s and women’s Open, men’s and women’s Veteran, men’s and women’s Senior Veteran, men’s and women’s Junior, and Family Run.

The entry fee is RM30 for the adult categories, RM15 for the junior group and RM50 for the family section.

Registration can be done via walk-ins during office hours at Twenty First Century Sports at No. 51, Jalan SS18/6, Subang Jaya. Online registration is available at http://www.hooha.asia
